Energy Storage Showcase

Event Venue and Description – EIC, London

The EIC’s Energy Storage Showcase invites some of the leading developers in the sector to provide attendees with an overview of their current plans and opportunities. Attendees will also have a chance to learn about some of the key technologies under development today as well as gaining an outlook on global developments and significant markets to keep an eye on.

With continued decrease in prices and growing advancement of technologies, energy storage is set to be a key sector in the global energy industry. Forecasts suggest that energy storage technologies will reach an installed capacity of 158GWh in 2024 and up to 942GW by 2040, excluding pumped hydro storage projects. This represents a US$620bn investment and opportunity across two decades, driven by an increased need for flexibility and balancing services on the grid, growing demand from distributed sources such as electric vehicles as well as the ongoing integration of renewable energy into the energy system. While the majority of this growth is expected to come from lithium-ion battery systems, significant development is also anticipated in other technologies, such as cryogenic energy storage and vanadium redox flow batteries.
