Employment and HR law firm gets Growth Hub help to transform marketing

A legal firm is successfully marketing its innovative employment law and HR services thanks to help from Sheffield City Region Growth Hub.

Bhayani HR & Employment Law is based in Sheffield and was founded in 2014 by specialist employment law solicitor Jay Bhayani. Jay has more than 25 years’ experience providing expert professional advice to both employees and businesses around employment law and HR.

Jay turned to Sheffield City Region Growth Hub for help to improve the company’s approach to marketing and new business development. In particular, it wanted to reach out to SME businesses whose HR requirements had grown but who were unable to meet their needs through in house provision.

Sheffield City Region Growth Specialist Andy Sorsby worked with Jay and her team to explore ways to develop a new marketing strategy.

Through the Growth Hub’s Enhancement Project, Bhayani HR & Employment Law was able to obtain a grant to bring in marketing expertise to help the business.

A campaign was developed, with initial efforts focusing on Bhayani Law’s innovative ‘fixed fee’ HR service called Watertight. This unique service allows SME businesses to meet all their HR needs, while also being able to access the skills and expertise of Jay’s experienced legal team.

The campaign involved overhauling the firm’s marketing materials, including printed and online brochures as well as the development of a new website. Social media channels and management have also been developed and improved.

Jay Bhayani said: “The campaign has been just what we needed to raise the profile of our Watertight fixed fee retainer service.  It’s been about more than just improving the marketing materials we have, however. It’s involved changing our whole approach to marketing. Our approach had been that of a traditional law firm – what you might call ‘here I am’ marketing.

“Our new approach is more focused on educating the market with the emphasis on customer challenges and problems – and how we can address those for clients.

“Through the Growth Hub we’ve been able to tap into the services of a marketing specialist who understands our business and what we’re trying to achieve. We’re hoping, as the campaign continues in the coming months, it will reap rewards and help us to win new business.”

The next step on Jay’s growth journey will involve automating many of the administrative processes involved in client marketing – such as setting up a CRM system which will manage its database of new business leads. With Growth Hub help she aims to apply for a grant via the Superfast South Yorkshire programme to fund the costs of software and training. Jay also hopes to target future marketing campaigns at specific sectors including the restaurant and hospitality industry.
