The Sheffield City Region (SCR) has launched a series of business masterclasses aimed at increasing expertise across South Yorkshire.
The eight masterclasses, organised by the SCR’s Growth Hub, will take place between October and spring 2020, focusing on subjects such as leadership and management, social media, and digital marketing.
David Grimes, Head of the Sheffield City Region Growth Hub, said: “The Growth Hub is dedicated to helping businesses to grow, improve and succeed and these series of masterclasses will broaden expertise and knowledge amongst the attendees.
“Each session will be led by an industry expert who will cut through the jargon and equip delegates with vital skills and, importantly, confidence in the field.”
The first two masterclasses, focusing on public sector tendering and building strong teams, will take place on 9 and 24 October. The tendering workshop will look at how to prepare businesses for tendering, how to develop action plans, and challenges that might arise.
The building strong teams session will help attendees learn how to empower project teams, how to develop talent and skills within teams, and how to inspire high performance.
A leadership and management masterclass, to be held in Sheffield on 5 November, will enable attendees to define or redefine their businesses’ core values and how to turn these values into key behaviours.
Meanwhile, the ISO masterclass in December will focus on clearly explaining why International Organisation for Standardisation is important to businesses and is a hallmark of quality.
In December, attendees will learn how social media can support and benefit businesses; from using it as a customer-services channel, to ensuring it is an important outlet for self-promotion.
The free programme continues with more classes in the New Year aimed at businesses who are growing but need support.
The Sheffield City Region Growth Hub exists to help businesses find the best possible business support to grow.
The Growth Hub acts as a ‘gateway’ so that businesses can access specialists in any field of business development required, including innovation, exporting, accessing finance or training.
The service is designed to enable businesses across the Sheffield City Region to get the support they need to thrive.
