Sheffield City Region Growth Hub attends MADE 2016

MADE, the UK’s premier business event for entrepreneurship, welcomed 570 inspiring entrepreneurs and SME owners to Sheffield on Tuesday 8th of November.

The event is designed to educate, inspire and motivate early-stage entrepreneurs and established business owners. Guest speakers for the day included James Akrigg of Microsoft, Jim Cregan of Jimmy’s Iced Coffee and Steve Bartlett of Social Chain, amongst others.

Sheffield City Region was one of the main sponsors for the festival on the day and offered advice to businesses about how the Growth Hub can support in setting up social enterprises and accessing finance.

The Growth Hub made some excellent business contacts with other event sponsors and plan on working together in the future to ensure businesses receive the best support possible.

Entrepreneurs also had the chance to scoop a six-figure investment via the Investors’ Den. Businesses had to set up a crowdfunder project before the event with their own business idea. The five projects that had raised the most money had the opportunity to pitch for a six-figure investment from a panel of five investors at MADE.

Andrew Rowley of Sheffield City Region, said: “The day perfectly showcased Sheffield as a city that celebrates and supports business start-ups and entrepreneurs.

“We received numerous enquiries on the day from business owners and we’re delighted with the response and feedback that we have received.”
