Businesses in Rotherham have something to celebrate this summer as the city boasts economic growth of 2.2% in the first quarter of this year.
The city has reached tenth in the table of 46 towns and cities by ‘gross value added’ by a measure of goods and services produced. It also maintained its position as Yorkshire’s fastest growing economy, according to the UK Powerhouse study produced by Irwin Mitchell and the Centre for Economics and Business Research.
Other businesses in the Sheffield City Region also have cause for celebration with Doncaster just missing out on one of the top spots to Rotherham, but reaching the eleventh spot with a year on year economic growth of 2.1%.
Sheffield also achieved a growth of 1.4% in their employment growth and reached a satisfactory position of fifteenth place out of forty-six businesses, and is forecast to hold this position over the next ten years.
