Invitation to learn about trading with India

Businesses from across Sheffield City Region are invited to a breakfast event to learn more about trading with India.

The first event of its kind, the Access India Programme Business Breakfast on Tuesday 20 March is part of the Access India Programme, run in conjunction with the High Commission for India in London and the UK India Business Council.

India is one of the priority target markets for Sheffield City Region, and new trade relationships are already actively being forged.

This event at the Mercure St Paul’s hotel in Sheffield city centre is an opportunity for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to hear from experts, network with like-minded delegates, and take advantage of the considerable opportunities available to UK businesses through the Access India Programme (AIP).

Chris Scholey, chairman of the SCR Trade and Investment Advisory Board, said: “This is an exciting time for trade and investment in Sheffield City Region. Thanks to our bold outlook and our ‘let’s get it done’ work ethic, we are already seeing transformational change.

“I would encourage representatives from the many and varied SMEs across our region to take advantage of this free event, which is a great opportunity to meet with Sheffield City Region’s trade and investment experts, hear from businesses who are already trading with India, and find out more about what the Access India Programme has to offer.

“It will also be a privilege to welcome distinguished guests to Sheffield, including Amb Dinesh Patnaik, the Deputy High Commissioner from the High Commission for India. I hope Mr Patnaik and his colleagues enjoy seeing some of the world-leading assets we have here, such as the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District, as well as exploring future opportunities for business relationships.”

The Access India Programme Business Breakfast aims to showcase the benefits of the Access India Programme to SMEs. The programme is a flagship initiative of the High Commission of India in London and has been formed to encourage and assist UK SMEs to access the Indian market.

The first of its kind for supporting UK businesses, the Access India Programme seeks to identify high-potential UK SME companies and assists them in establishing themselves in India. For these companies, the programme will provide a detailed scheme of activity, mentoring, networking opportunities and market entry support services – all without charge.

The High Commission of India in London is supported by UK India Business Council as the official Knowledge Partner for the programme. This event is being supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funded Exporting for Growth Programme.
