Strong Customer Authentication – 3DS Implementation Approach

Event Venue and Description – Webinar

For card payments, the technology to protect online payments and support the new Strong Customer Authentication requirements is called 3DSecure (3DS).

This technology is nothing new, and has been around for nearly 20 years, however, it has recently gone through a significant revolution to support the digital world developing today.

There are currently three versions of 3DSecure:

  • 3DSecure version 1.0
  • EMV 3DSecure version 2.1
  • EMV 3DSecure version 2.2

This webinar will explore the various versions of 3DSecure, explaining the fundamental features of each. There will also be a review of the use of EMV 3DS as a means to authenticate online payments across a multitude of devices, with little consumer friction.

The webinar will provide the basics of 3DS, its recent 2.0 evolution and how it enables lower friction and cart abandonment while providing card Issuers with the means to secure and protect their customers. Using real-life examples from European FI’s, the webinar will allow the audience to gain a solid grasp of 3DS and why it is the protocol of choice to authenticate transaction and meet Strong Customer Authentication requirements.

The Webinar will also review the new 3RI and non-payment flow functionalities that can further help issuers protect their cardholders and discuss the use of exemptions.

Finally, the Implementation and Testing considerations particularly for e-Merchants will be discussed and the webinar will finish off with a Q&A Session.

UK Finance would like to point out that 3DSecure isn’t the only way to comply with SCA and there are other solutions in the market.
