Prior to the outbreak of COVID-19 earlier this year, the UK spent 3 ½ years debating a withdrawal agreement with the EU. The separation process thus far has been something akin to a military assault course and there are many obstacles to be navigated before the end of the transition period – still scheduled for December 2020.
