Come along to Barnsley DMC 02 for the first of our monthly ‘Get Started with..’ sessions, focussing on connecting to the internet, using sensors and analysing data! This is a practical workshop, where you will not only hear all about the benefits of adopting IoT into your company, but you will also have the chance to get stuck in and create your own IoT solutions under the expert guidance of Dr Rikki Coles. The workshop will enable you to use IoT to interface with other equipment available in our MakerLab, such as 3D printers, as well as the opportunity to build your own weather station, measuring temperature and humidity through sensors, augmenting these readings with online weather forecasts.
The workshop is open to SMEs in South Yorkshire who want to learn more about IoT and gain an overview of what benefits adopting IoT solutions can have for their business. There is also the chance to learn about our Digital Innovation for Growth Programme (for eligible SMEs) which offers 12 hours of fully funded access to our prototyping and testing facilities in the MakerLab, and the opportunity to work with Sheffield Hallam University’s academic experts.
The Digital Innovation for Growth Programme is available to businesses across the Sheffield City Region who are looking to make the most of digital technology to grow, improve products, maximise efficiency and adopt new ways of working. *
The workshop will be run by Dr Rikki Coles, Senior Technical lead for the IoT Engine, and expert in all things IoT, Analytics, Physics, and Software Engineering. Rikki has a wealth of experience in engaging with start-ups and SMEs as well as large international organisations with everything from hands-on technical development to solution architecture, dissemination, leadership and strategy/policy.
Our building is fully accessible and lunch will be provided on arrival. Pay and Display parking is available on-site at the County Way Car Park. Please bring your own laptop – if you are unable to do so please make us aware in advance.
