Addressing the challenge of decarbonisation in Sheffield

Event Venue and Description – Webinar

This panel discussion organised by IET, IMechE, IStructE, IChemE, SMEA and ICE, will explore the zero carbon agenda in the context of the Sheffield City Region. The event will be chaired by Peter Kennan who is a Private Sector Board Member of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, Chair of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry Transport Forum and Board Member of Transport for the North.

Panellists will be:

  • Dr Danielle Densley-Tingley, Senior Lecturer at  Sheffield University and Director of the Urban Flows Observatory who will share some of her research which explores resource flows and sustainable building design solutions to help us to create a built environment that operates within the carrying capacity of the planet.
  • Martin Wood,  Supply Chain Specialist at the  UK Department for International  Trade (DIT) who will focus on electric vehicles and all elements of the EV supply chain – a key element in the push to decarbonise road transport.
  • Dr Graham Cooley CEO of Sheffield-based  ITM Power who will discuss the opportunities for implementing  hydrogen solutions in different settings to alleviate our dependence on fossil fuel.
  • Professor Peter Styring, Professor of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at the University of Sheffield will focus on Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CDU) in the green economy.

Following short presentations from each of our panellists, there will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion with the audience.
