300 jobs to be created as £35m Sheffield residential scheme gets green light

Construction work will go ahead on a £35m residential and commercial scheme on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield after council approval was granted for a revised scheme.

Developers this week underlined the regeneration benefits of transforming the site of a former car dealership between Summerfield Street and Pear Street, near the old Wards Brewery.

Sheffield-based Hallminster Ltd is now looking to withdraw an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate that followed the council’s initial concerns over plans for private and student apartments, shops and commercial units.

The company can now press ahead after talks with the council led to amending the scale and design of parts of the proposed development, which is hoped to start in 2017.
