Today the region is host to many world-leading manufacturing and engineering companies including Rolls-Royce, Tata Steel, Siemens VAI, AESSEAL, Dormer Sandvik, Gripple, Sheffield Forgemasters, LUK UK, Bridon International, Pegler Group, Swann Morton, ATI Allvac, Outokumpu and many more.
The area also boasts an unrivalled range of R&D expertise. Both Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing, together with the AMRC Group, have excellent research credentials in engineering and materials. There are many independent research organisations including; Casting Technology International (Cti), TWI’s Yorkshire Technology Centre, and Tata Steel’s Swinden Technology Centre.
