Work & Health Consultation – Reducing Ill Health-Related Job Loss

Event Venue and Description – Halifax Hall, Endcliffe Vale Road, Sheffield

**This event is an opportunity to feed in your views at a public consultation on measures to reduce ill health-related job loss**

‘Health is everyone’s business’ – you are invited to hear from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) on their current consultation to reduce ill health-related job loss.  This will be followed by a wider discussion session with an expert panel.

Many employers already see the case to invest in health and wellbeing, but some employers, particularly smaller ones, might not have the knowledge or time to support their employees with health conditions, even when they want to.  This consultation seeks to address these challenges.

The Government is putting forward a package of measures which encourage early and supportive action by employers for their employees with health conditions.  Taken together, these proposals aim to reduce ill health-related job loss and support people to thrive in work.

The day will consist of two sessions as follows (it is not necessary to attend both)

Session 1 – chaired by DWP & DHSC’s Joint Work and Health Unit:

  • Learn more about the proposed measures and the Governments role in this agenda
  • Take part in an interactive discussion with policy officials, as well as other businesses and stakeholders in your area, on the consultation proposals

Session 2 – chaired by the University of Sheffield’s Centre for Decent Work:

  • Hear from an expert panel working at the forefront of ill health-related employment
  • Participate in a question and answer session with the panel
  • Networking and lunch
