Having an understanding of the various forms of Intellectual Property (IP) is an essential tool to protect your business branding and to prevent your company from falling liable to IP infringement.

Dr Abigail Welford will give a brief overview of the types of intellectual property available, how to obtain and how to enforce those rights.

She will provide guidance on the due diligence that should be performed prior to launching a brand and how to ensure you maintain any registered rights in the brand once established.

This is a brief introductory talk followed by open questions/drop in session. Please feel free to bring along any of your branding logos/business names/ inventions etc. and we will give advice on:

• What to protect
• How to protect it
• Likely costs involved in obtaining and enforcing registered rights
• Unregistered rights which automatically accrue (without spending a penny!)
