Making the Connection – The Basics of Networking – Workshop

Event Venue and Description: Digital Media Centre, Barnsley, S70 2JW

**This is a practical training session so you will need to bring at least 50 business cards with you**

In terms of business networking, one of the implicit objectives is to form professional relationships that can enhance your future business engagement. Networking events are now common practice within many professional organisations.

Strategies for expanding your network include developing relationships with people and other businesses, as opposed to just swapping contact information. People and companies within a network usually maintain regular contact with each other to gain each other’s trust. Instead of going for a volume of contacts, quality may be preferred even though it takes more time and effort.

Building a good network is a great way to get new business and maintain existing relationships. When starting out, a lot of people find networking uncomfortable that doesn’t come naturally to them. This interactive session is designed to get you ready to network.

The workshop covers: –
– Why you need a network
– How to refine your elevator pitch
– Networking Strategy
– How to read the room.

At the end of the session, attendees will be able to understand their objective when networking, assess the quality of a networking group and be confident in reading body language at any networking event.
