General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) – are you ready? – Workshop

Event Venue and Description: Evolve Coworking Space, 210 Portobello, Sheffield, S1 4AE

GDPR – the scariest four letters to enter the startup world in years. But what do they mean, and what does GDPR mean for your business?

The General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR] is a new legislation affecting the EU, including Britain and regardless of Brexit. The law is an extension and replacement of the Data Protection act, covering IT systems implementations and replacing previous updates such as Safe Harbor. All companies are required to comply with GDPR requirements, before the enforcement date of May next year. This regulation is necessary irrespective of company size, and is therefore applicable to everyone from a sole trader to a multi-national enterprise. You are required to take “reasonable precautions”, for which this GDPR Prep session will ensure you comply at threshold level, with internal self-assessment.

This affects all businesses, including startups and that’s why we’ve invited Stephanie Rudd, GDPR Compliance Officer to come and explain it all to you.

The workshop will prepare you for full GDPR compliance. The document set can be kept as evidence and a basic metrics framework, or submitted to a compliance officer later for a GDPR certificate. Put your mind at ease, ask any questions you have about GDPR and go away from this workshop with some template docs and the knowledge of what you need to do next.
