CIPD Coronavirus Series – Stepping up and supporting working parents

Event Venue and Description – Webinar

While hope is on horizon that we will soon be free from the shackles of COVID-19 restrictions, a new national lockdown means working parents are once again having to grapple with the challenges of balancing work, childcare and home learning for their children in the weeks and months ahead.

It is vital that during this period employers support working parents within their workforce. A recent TUC survey found that one in six mothers – mainly those on the lowest pay – had to reduce their hours at work as a direct result of school and childcare closures, with some forced out of the workplace altogether.

Separate research by Working Families found that one in five working parents felt they had been treated less fairly at work because of their childcare responsibilities since the onset of COVID-19.

Tune in to this webinar and join a panel of experts to explore how organisations can step up their support for working parents at this challenging time. From empathetic and supportive messages to offering additional flexibility, extra leave or the use of the Government’s Job Retention Scheme (furlough), employers can make a fundamental difference to the experiences of working parents when they need it most.
