Brexit Workshop – Customs

Event Venue and Description – Cloth Hall Court, Quebec Street, Leeds

This course will cover various key aspects of cross border activities from a business, logistics and regulatory point of view.

It is aimed specifically, but not exclusively, at the movement of goods to the UK from the EU and vice versa in the event of a No-Deal.

It is delivered in a very open and flexible way, covering the key areas but so that the concerns of the participants are addressed rather than just following a rigid agenda.

Participants will be encouraged to discuss their concerns and raise their questions regarding the potential customs and border issues in the event of a No-Deal.

The objectives of the training are to give a broad overview of all aspects of crossing the border in the event of a No Deal. This is summarised into the three key areas:

Business activities – the buyer seller relationship we will discuss areas including:

  • – Contracts
  • – The impact of incoterms,
  • the need for and selecting customs brokers
  • Responsibilities
  • The need for an EORI

Logistics and supply chain

  • What is the impact of:
  • A border on the supply chain

Customs matters, including:

  • What is meant by ‘Compliance’?
  • What customs procedures will assist you in being more compliant, efficient and cost effective.
  • Making a customs declaration
  • What documentation is required
  • What are Transitional Simplified procedures and what do they apply to?
  • Paying duties and VAT
  • Authorised Consignor/Consignee
  • The use of Transit under the Common Transit Convention
  • Selecting and using a custom broker
  • Instructing the customs broker
  • Where can you find support

You will also have an awareness and understanding of the key areas to ensure your import and export activities are compliant, efficient and cost effective by being able to take advantage of the customs easements introduced by government and available to you and your company.
