How important is retaining talent in your business? Recruitment is a major issue amongst growing businesses, and attracting and retaining talent is not only essential to grow the skills within your team but to also to reduce recruitment costs. Many growing businesses forget the importance of setting a ‘culture’ within their business and retaining talent amongst their teams. Retaining talent not only keeps your businesses skill set strong it also helps a business safeguard their business growth strategy.

Our half day Masterclass with Michael Page Recruitment will look at retaining talent within your growing business to achieve your growth strategy and attract new talent when recruiting. The Masterclass will discuss the importance of subjects such as business culture, dynamic working, mentoring and development of progression pathways within your team.

Who is leading it?

The session will be led by Emma Conroy and Ruth Hancock. Emma is a Director with Michael Page Finance and started her earlier career journey in finance before joining the Sheffield Office of Michael Page in 2008. Over the last 10 years with Page, Emma has placed a number of Finance Professionals with a range of clients across South Yorkshire and currently leads a team of 14 qualified finance recruitment specialists across Yorkshire. Emma prides herself on her relationships within the local network and delivering excellent customer service and support. Emma is actively involved in Page Group’s award winning Diversity and Inclusion strategy and mentors a number of internal and external individuals as part of this.

Ruth Hancock joined Michael page 14 years ago. Having worked as a Production Planner for Nissan, she began recruiting into manufacturers in Yorkshire and, after 2 years, opened the Sheffield office in 2006. From here the team service the South Yorkshire market servicing local candidates and clients, many of whom are from SMEs.

Ruth herself specialises in engineering & manufacturing positions such as Operations, Quality, HSE, Production and Maintenance and has a particular passion for D&I, particularly women in manufacturing. She has a team of highly skilled consultants in Sheffield who recruit across Supply Chain, Procurement and Logistics.

Having worked within South Yorkshire for over a decade, Ruth is renowned for building long term relationships with her candidates and clients, strengthening teams and enhancing careers.

Who is the Masterclass for?

This Masterclass is for all growing SMEs within the Sheffield City Region, as long as the below eligibility criteria is met.

This Masterclass is for high growth businesses with a growth strategy in place. Individuals who are responsible for recruitment, have had issues with recruitment or may potentially be recruiting in the future will particularly find this Masterclass useful. This Masterclass is suitable for directors, owners, managers, HR personnel or any individuals who are looking for ways to retain talent in their business

A/ Parking facilities are available and the venue is easily accessable from the M1.

Q/ I would like to bring a colleague, is this ok?

A/ No, only one attendee per company is permitted.

Eligibility

Only one registration per business via Eventbrite will be confirmed. If additional people from your business would like to attend, they can be added to a waiting list by emailing enhancementproject@sheffieldcityregion.org.uk with the business name, name of additional attendee and contact telephone number. If this Masterclass isn’t fully subscribed upon the closure of registrations, we will contact you to offer the additional place. The waiting list will be prioritised on a first come first served basis. Businesses that register more than one attendee via Eventbrite will be contacted and asked to nominate one person to attend.

This Masterclass is open to small and medium-sized enterprises based in the Sheffield City Region. If you are unsure whether you fall into this region you can use the postcode checker.

A part of your business must be based in one of the following districts: Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Bolsover, Chesterfield, Derbyshire Dales, Doncaster, North East Derbyshire. Rotherham or Sheffield.

Please note that if your firm that is part of a larger Group you may need to include staff headcount, turnover, balance sheet data for the Group too, to ascertain whether it is eligible.

We are pleased to be able to provide this masterclass free of charge due to funding from the European Regional Development Fund. There are a number of eligibility criteria for attendees which we will check using the online registration questions and in a phone call to every attendee prior to the event.
