The Government’s Kickstart scheme is available to businesses in South Yorkshire. The £2 billion scheme funds employers to create subsidised job placements for 16 to 24 year olds. It will create hundreds of thousands of high quality six month work placements for young people who are on Universal Credit and deemed to be at risk of long term unemployment.
There will also be extra funding to support young people to build their experience and help them move into sustained employment after they have completed their Kickstart funded job. The funding for each job will cover 100% of the relevant national minimum wage for 25 hours a week, plus the associated employer national insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions.
You can apply online if your business is able to offer a minimum of 30 job placements. If you are unable to offer this many job placements, a Kickstart gateway can act on your behalf and apply for a Kickstart Scheme grant for you.

After 17 December 2021 you will not be able to:
- apply for a new Kickstart Scheme grant
- add more jobs to an existing grant agreement
The Government will process applications submitted before this time or that are already in progress.
