Founded in 1926, PCT Limited is a third generation family owned manufacturing company, predominantly focusing on sub-contract engineering for the likes of Tesco and Mercedes Benz, as well as companies located in South Yorkshire.
The company, who own three sites on the Holbrook industrial estate to the South East of the city, approached the Growth Hub looking to reaffirm its commitment to manufacturing by investing in new machinery to stimulate growth.
Through Steve Goodare, one of the Growth Hub’s Business Growth Specialists operating throughout the Sheffield City Region, PCT used the Access to Finance support to apply for a £50,000 grant towards a fibre laser cutter.
The machine will enable PCT Limited to cut high-precision shapes out of steel, which can then be assembled by welders.
Since the introduction of the fibre laser cutter, the £6 million turnover business has seen such an increase in demand for its services that it has moved to two shifts and employed a further four staff, with plans in place to recruit an additional three more in welding.

Such is the ongoing demand for the service, that the company is now looking to revisit the Growth Hub for further help to continue their expansion.
The business will continue to work with the Growth Hub to identify other channels of support to continue their growth, with training grants through ‘Skills Bank’ – a £17 million fund to empower employers to choose and invest in the skills they need – and support with Innovation being two areas of interest.
