South Yorkshire Business Support Update: May 2022

This month, we take a look at the latest support schemes and initiatives available to your business and employees.
In addition, we will be exploring how you can have your say on the future of our region by casting your vote in the Mayoral Election on Thursday 5th May and why this is just as important for businesses as it is for residents across South Yorkshire.

Your Vote. Your Mayor. Your South Yorkshire.
Why voting is important for businesses…

The election for the next Mayor of South Yorkshire will take place on Thursday 5 May.
If you are registered to vote in local elections for any of the four councils in South Yorkshire (Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield) you can have your say on who the new Mayor could be.Voting for the new mayor is just as important for businesses as it is for local residents. Your Mayor will make decisions that will help to shape our region’s future. They will have powers and money, which will be used to decide how we create jobs and grow our economy, improve training and skills, how our public transport network is run, and build new infrastructure in South Yorkshire.Your Mayor will also chair the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, bringing together the local councils of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield, to make these decisions. To choose your Mayor and use your voice to shape the future of South Yorkshire, vote at your local polling station on 5 May.Find out more election details at: southyorkshire-ca.gov.uk/election.
